What is Mindfulness?
In its simplest form, Mindfulness is being aware; it is paying attention to the present moment, non-judgmentally. Mindfulness is not specifically connected to any religion or spiritual practice.
Mindfulness in the Classroom
Research shows that the benefits of mindfulness can include:
- Increased focus, attention, self-control, classroom participation, compassion
- Improved academic performance, ability to resolve conflict, overall well-being
- Decreased levels of stress, depression, anxiety, disruptive behavior
