Wakelet

wakelet.pngWakelet is a content curation platform where teachers and students can save links, social media posts, videos, and images as items to later be organized into private or public collections. Users can add notes to each Item in order to tell a story, ask questions, or give directions.

TOOLS & FEATURES

  • Teachers can easily create collections (assignment, collection board, project) and EASILY share with students using a sharing link or QR code.
  • Students 13 and over can easily curate information. 
  • Students under 13 can collaborate on teacher-created collection using the link.
  • Connect directly to Microsoft Teams.  Teachers can share directly to Teams as a Channel or set up as an Assignment.
  • Users can change the layout to represent a specific type of collection.

Students Over 13: CAN create an account using the SD72 Microsoft Account with informed consent.

Creating a Wakelet

  1. Go to Wakelet for Education site.  (Login in OR Sign up using your SD72 Microsoft email).
  2. Create a new collection OR
  3. Use the Search feature (top right) for already created collections. 
  4. The "Showcase" tab will also include a number of pre-created collections.

Share out collection

  • Via Teams
  • Using a link or QR Code
  • Embedding into a class site

For Students: 

Creating a Wakelet - Students 13+

  1. Go to wakelet.com.  Login using your SD72 Microsoft email account.
  2. Create a new collection and start adding content.

Accessing a Wakelet - ALL students

There are THREE ways of accessing collection created by your teacher (no account needed):

  • From a Channel in Teams
  • From Assignments in Teams
  • From a QR code or link.

Once you have accessed it, click on the "Edit" button to start adding content.

OTHER INFORMATION

Users, please note this resource:

  • stores data in a server outside of Canada.
  • collects personal information (SD72 Microsoft email address, name).
  • collects computer information (IP address and location).
