Ways to Access Pro D

Professional Standard #7 "Educators engage in Professional Learning"

1. Individual Pro D Funds

Teachers in a contract by Sept 30 receive $250/FTE in their Individual Pro D accounts (see the Pro D Handbook for allowable uses).

2. Professional Development Special Request

Each application is considered by the Core Pro D committee and must be submitted for Pre Approval at least 2 weeks prior to the event, earlier is better. Can be used for conferences that require long distance travel or special opportunities that would be out of reach without support. You must use your Individual funds along with your Special Request. All teachers can make a special request, regardless of their Individual Pro D balances.

3. Collaborative Learning Grant

The Collaborative Learning Team Grant is designed to provide support to groups of teachers who wish to work cooperatively to investigate topics in education beyond those meetings normally expected of teachers. Release time and funds are provided to support this learning.

4. TTOC Professional Development Day Grants

All TTOCs in the district can apply to attend all of the 5 Pro D/Non-Instructional Days in our district. Applications are due 2  weeks prior to the day or the last day before a break when there is a holiday.

5. New Teacher Conference Grant

The BCTF holds 2 New Teacher Conferences every year. This grant will support New Teachers to attend one of these conferences. You can apply to attend one conference each year for two years.

6. Mentorship Program

Mentorship supports new teachers or teachers changing their roles and is considered a reciprocal learning opportunity for the Mentors and Mentees.

7. Teachers Teaching Teachers Grant

Professional Standard #8 "Educators Contribute to the Profession." If you have something to share with your colleagues we support your planning time and provide you with Pro D credits in your Individual Account.
